Literacy Tutorial

Learning Specialist, Angela De Vincenzo, works with children 1:1 and in small groups teaching specifically into each of the discrete, isolated elements of the reading and writing processes to support learners in the consolidation of such skills so that reading, spelling and writing can be more fluid and joyful. Such tutorial workshops are ideal for children in need of remediation, reinforcement, engagement and enrichment of such academic skills. Based on developmental stage, Angela works with learners on all aspects of their literacy development: phonemic awareness, decoding and encoding skills, fluency, vocabulary, reading comprehension, handwriting, and writing.

Small Group Reading + Writing Workshops

Guided by Angela, these workshops are for learners who either want more inspiration and depth in their reading and writing lives, or for those who can benefit from more time and space in books and writing. The small group workshop (learners based on reading/writing abilities), explores a variety of book genres and authors. Analyzing, inferring and thinking about the texts, characters, authors’ language, purpose and intentions are shared through discussion, writing, art, and role playing. Reading and writing is a social, dynamic process. This group promotes higher level thinking, and a more connected, mindful, engaged reader and writer.
